Imagine Kings of Convenience going to Woodstock being underwater and on dark acid - that is vega vi’s sound. Her electronic-indie project creates atmospheric soundscapes with synths, melodies and vocals, taking listeners on a cinematographic sound trip. From acoustic instruments to electronic sound design - vega vi evokes sunny afternoons, freezing landscapes, and tripping sea horses.

Aside from songwriting, lyrics, and instrumentation, the German/Danish artist produced her debut EP Love Letter, which was released in 2022 on Lemonrise Records. vega vi has performed live around Europe, including a sold-out headline show with her band in Berlin, where the hypnotic & creative live shows have won over audiences.

She has been featured in Missy Magazine and Frontstage Magazine, as well as on Deutschlandfunk Kultur & Radio Fritz. With new material in the works, vega vi is poised to take on this year's festival stages with neon, trippy sounds, and an impressive live show.

In addition the German/Danish artist works in other musical collaborations and DJ's under the name vegavicious.

"Conquering the creative space
as producer & artist"

On her debut EP Love Letter vega vi embraces melancholy and joy of life as two interconnected elements. Warm sounds are supported by punchy kicks, dreamy lyrics are sung with distorted vocals, and the multi-layered sound design is complemented with organic components. According to vega vi “the EP is a Love Letter dedicated to making music, to producing and to creativity. It’s about conquering the creative space as a producer and artist“.

A wide range of sounds scape
With every track the EP develops from acoustic elements further towards electronica and danceable beats to find its realm within electronic indie. If you ever wondered how Kings of Convenience would sound at Woodstock being underwater and on dark acid, vega vi’s EP holds the answer.

Sound-tripping
from snowy winter nights to blooming spring

The German/Danish artist started her work on a snowy winter night in Oslo with minus degrees Celsius outside, and she finalised it in blooming Berlin in springtime. Within a year vega vi wrote and produced her 6-track EP mostly in her bedroom. The artist drew inspiration from underwater sounds, snowy surroundings, blooming days and tripping sea horses.

The full EP was released September 2nd (2022) on Lemonrise Records. Currently the artist is releasing music videos. A limited amount of vinyls and socks are currently available for purchase via the shop section.

01 Afternoon Daze

Written & produced by vega vi & Warwick McLeod
Additional production, Live Drums & Mixing by Coco
Mastering by Paul Vlasveld

The German Fritz-radio described vega vi’s debut single Afternoon Daze as a “vertical take-off“. As the acoustic track of the EP it refers to vega vi’s Singer-Songwriter background. The song invites you to rest in the comforting shadow of a tree while loosing yourself in daydreaming. A light breeze carries thoughts away while time stands still for a moment.

02 Healer

Written & produced by vega vi
Live Drums & Mixing by Coco
Mastering by Paul Vlasveld

The pop-electronic single Healer is a manifesto about letting go and respecting one’s own limits. It balances between spheric electronica and pervasive pop whilst embracing vega vi’s atmospheric signature sound in the production. The song explores themes of letting-go, knowing one’s limits and the importance of finding your own way.

The track received multiple airplays on Amazingradio US & UK and was called „legendary“ and “haunting and ethereal, while being also catchy and accessible“ by music blog Lefuturewave.

03 Love Letter

Written & produced by vega vi
Co-produced by Péter Ostertag
Live Drums & Mixing by Coco
Mastering by Paul Vlasveld

“Song, Thought, Touch“ – there are many forms of love language. Love Letter is about waiting for a sign of affection in any form. The protagonist loses herself in daydreaming and eventually dissolves into the track’s mesmerising synth sounds. The title track is a most accurate description of vega vi: it embraces melancholy and joy of life as interconnected elements. The song moves between indie-electronica and synth-pop but dares to go more experimental ways than the previous singles Afternoon Daze and synth-pop Healer. Love Letter is waiting for affection - what are you waiting for? The sound was described as “post Kate Bushism“by an irish music blog.

04 When I met you

Written & produced by vega vi
Mixing by Coco
Mastering by Paul Vlasveld

The interlude is the bridge between the pop-influenced singles and the more electronic tracks of the EP. The synth pattern expands into the foleys and field recordings. The Danish lyrics describe the effect of a loved person’s gaze. It gives the feeling of arrival, that all weight is lifted from one’s chest, the fog dissolves and all commotion subsides.

05 Molecules

Written & produced by vega vi
Mixing by Coco
Mastering by Paul Vlasveld

The track was written on a cold, snowy January night in Norway. This atmosphere is mirrored in the track: the synths are inspired by whale sounds, the Wurlitzer captures the softness of snowfall, and the lyrics evoke the picture of white frozen breath against the deep blue night. The production too plays with contrasts: while the verse sounds soft, dreamy and timeless, the chorus differs with deep and distorted voices, punchy kicks and electronic sound design. Still - is drags us further into the cold January night and comforts us.

06 Boy, I

Written by vega vi
Produced by vega vi and Péter Ostertag
Mixing by Coco
Mastering by Paul Vlasveld

As the last track of the EP Boy, I is the electronic peak and leads listeners into a dancing underwater world. Losing significance, vocals and lyrics diffuse and blend into the production. „The picture of tripping seahorses in their colourful underwater world served as inspiration“, vega vi explains.
